Damn cell phones.

Here's a wonderful comment that is worth reading and considering:
The very rich pay LESS in taxes now than they ever have at any point in US history since income taxes were made law.  Not only are their tax rates lower than they ever were, they have multiple tax shelters available to them (that reduce their taxable income significantly) that were not available a generation or two ago.
So, where is all of this "punitively tax(ing) the wealthy" thing coming from?  Because some people want the tax rate to return to what it was in 2000?  That's really sad.  That's not even as high as what they were under Reagan.
The very rich are making more money than they ever have, they have a higher percentage of the wealth concentrated in their hands than they ever have, and their taxes are lower than they ever were . . . but we're supposed to believe they are being beaten up on, taxed to death and that their wealth and income is being put in jeapordy by calls for their tax rate to return to the official 4% higher rate?  Please.  (And once again, remember that even if the tax rate returns to its official rate, that is just the official rate, not the actual rate that they will pay, which will be significantly lower, just as it is today.)
And, yet,  as we enter the fourth year of a recession, FOX and the GOP want us to believe that the economy is being restrained by all those wicked, poor people who have nice things like cell phones and video game systems.

See a great worker's hymn after the jump.

It is we who plowed the prairies; built the cities where they trade;
Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid;
Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made;
But the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong.

They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn,
But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn.
We can break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn
That the union makes us strong.

Chorus

In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold,
Greater than the might of armies, magnified a thousand-fold.
We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old
For the union makes us strong.
